Keeping on Working in Tianshan—Records the Deeds of Reconstruction-assistant Cadre Xie Weisong in Xinjiang

On September16,2014, professor Xie Weisong from the School of Mathematics, Tianjin University first stepped into Xinjiang as a member of selected cadres by the Ministry of Education for reconstruction-assistant. From that time, Mr. Xie got a new title—the Associate Dean of the School of Mathematical Science, Xinjiang Normal University in charge of scientific research and graduates affairs.

Xie Weisong, who is nearly 50 years old, can choose to continue his beloved teaching work on the familiar campus. However, when the Party organization told to him, he gladly accepted the task of Xinjiang reconstruction-assistant, and wanted to do something for Xinjiang's education development. During the period of studying in the central organization and autonomous region, he realized that the work of aiding Xinjiang was related to the security and stability of our country, so he strengthened the pace of stepping on Xinjiang.
From the coastal city of Tianjin to the northwest border town of Urumqi, from an associate professor that just focus on teaching and research to the associate dean in charge of management, Mr. Xie had done a fully prepared before he went to Xinjiang, but the new environment and the unknown challenges still brought him great pressure. He actively adjust his mind, and strive to adapt, to accept, to face the various changes such as climate, diet, working conditions and living environment...

From the first day of meeting the teachers and students of the School of Mathematical Sciences, Xinjiang Normal University to now, the words that "In the next three years, I want to share a common fate with you, link my heart to you, and develop with you" in a heavy accent from Xie is still remain in the hearts of each mathematical man of Xinjiang Normal University. That's what he said, and what he did.

Enter the new role as soon as possible in details. In order to remember each teacher’s name,Xie Weisong compared with the electronic photos one by one. In addition, he told to teachers face to face from a variety of perspectives to understand the situation of the college. In November 2014, he expressed his sympathy and solicitude for internship college students of teacher support. He had a heart-to-to-heart talk with each student and understood their teaching plan carefully. Besides, Mr. Xie visited students’ dormitories to learn about the heating condition in winter and the difficulties in their daily life. In November 2014, he took the initiative to participate in the college graduate office relocation work, and actively to organize and coordinate works. In colorful activities such as “National Unity in Love”, he went deep into the class, canteen, dormitory to exchange thinking with students, and guided students’ study, living and work development. He promoted the comprehensive improvement of the students' Ideological and political consciousness.

Strengthen the construction of qualified personnel to break through the key point. In 2015, Xie Weisong took the advantage of the "Tianshan scholars" selection to work actively with the University of Science & Technology China, Xiamen University, Tianjin University, East China Normal University in communication and coordination, and came to reach an agreement on the selection work of "Tianshan scholars" that completed the hard work. "Tianshan scholars" project of the school of Mathematical Sciences, Xinjiang Normal University was officially approved and launched in June 2016. Since the implementation of the project, the situation has been good, and has already passed the annual assessment organized by the school in 2017.

Improve the quality of personnel training in strength. Xie Weisong developed a set of management regulations of graduate students, organized and developed the first level master-degree training program, further clarified the working rules of graduate students training. he also organized the graduate students’ defense work and the interview of different student types from the year of 2015 to the year of 2017. In June 2015, as the director of college admissions, he went to Hetian to carry on the enrollment propaganda work, meanwhile, he also went to Shache to visit the working group of Xinjiang Normal University. In June 2017, he took the lead in mathematics subject declaration of the Xinjiang Normal University, and received the favorable comments in the process of declarating and evaluating.

Put forward suggestions to make a breakthrough in science effort. Xie Weisong proposed a working idea “To promote discipline development, personnel training and teaching progress by scientific research.” Under the guidance of the system construction, he revised the “Reward System for Scientific Research Achievement”, and further refined the reward scope and reward intensity. He took the project declaration as an opportunity to guide and strengthen the awareness of teachers to participate in scientific research work, and organized the scientific research project declaration and argumentation meeting. In October 2016, the Major Workroom Project of Mathematics Teaching Resources Development that was successfully approved by the research platform of Xinjiang Normal University as well as began to construct. He advocated the exchange activities as the carrier to promote the academic level. In October 2015, he organized the mathematics forum for the young doctors of mathematics in Xinjiang of 2015. He was responsible for the academic activities of mathematics during the third Academic Week of Xinjiang Reconstruction-assistant.
Complete the teaching tasks in classroom. He keeps firmly the nature of teacher in mind to stick to his post in classroom, and remains to work around the students. Since the fall of 2014, he has undertaken the teaching task of six courses, such as Advanced Mathematics i, Calculation Method and Partial Differential Equation, with an average of 7 hours per week. His teaching hours has reached 706 in total for three years that is much more than his teaching workload in Tianjin University.
He regarded himself as a member of the School of Mathematical Sciences, and he would like to contributed to School’s development by his hardworking. He insisted on working in Xinjiang, furthermore, he took his root in Xinjiang. In addition to the winter and summer holidays, he has been stuck in the first line of work in Xinjiang, the rate of resident in Xinjiang reached more than 80% as well as the on-the-job rate closed to 100%. Even in September 2015, the doctor advised him to do the nasal septum surgery, he just used the holiday for his surgery and hospitalization, and did not affect the normal teaching, management work. His leaders and colleagues didn't know about his condition until they returned to work in October 8th.
Xie Weisong said he want to Xinjiang and the school of Mathematical Sciences just for three years and he would like to spend more time on the reconstruction-assistant of Xinjiang. As a member of the Communist Party of China with 23 years party standing, he still keeps his mission in mind. During the period of reconstruction-assistant in Xinjiang he devoted himself to the magic land to be the emissary between the Xinjiang and inland for education communication, as far as tried his best to do more meaningful thing in deed for the development of Xinjiang.
A bridge of education assistant to Xinjiang has been put up between Xinjiang and Tianjin University by Xie Weisong and other kindhearted cadres’ contribution.
